Blockade 1.9 [BLOCKAD]  <blockade.pcx>
   Board Games
   PC Solutions; $15
is a strategy board game similar to Othello. Each player takes turns
placing his pieces on the board, but unlike Othello, your piece must be
placed adjacent to both one of your pieces and one of your opponent's.
The effects of such a placement differ from Othello as well. An
interesting game.

Cascade 1.9  [Cascade]  <cascade.pcx>
   Strategy Games
   PC Solutions; $15
is a strategy game played against the computer. A maze of letters is
presented on the screen, scattered with balls and other objects. You
take turns with the computer removing a letter, and the balls cascade
down the gaps left. On reaching the bottom, they will enter your hopper
and add a value to your score.

Clue Detective Notebook 1.1 [CLUEBK]
   Games

prints detective notebooks for either the Clue or Master Clue games.
They are redesigned to print two games per page and provide more room
for notes. The lists are in Suspect, Room, Weapon order to conform to
the Master Clue computer game play order.

Double Deck Auction Pinochle 1.0 [DDAPNCL]

matches you and a computer partner against another computer partnership
in Pinochle. You will learn how to bid, meld, and win tricks. Great

is a parody of the Street Fighter arcade type game. All the ozone has
burned up and you must fight off Froggers. The evil Froggers were people
at one time.

Quote-Tris 1.0 [QUOTRIS]  <quotris.pcx>
   Word Games

is a Tetris style word game. It combines famous quotations with the
action of a Tetris arcade game. You put together a notable quote using
random words that descend before time runs out. Requires hard disk and
VGA.

Silencer [SILENDF]
   Strategy
   Donald E. Foss; $10
is a military strategy game in which you'll battle with seven different
creatures that vary in number, speed, and strength. There are 15 levels
of competition and various skill levels. VGA required.

XXIV  [XXIV]  <xxiv.pcx>
   Math/Tetris

is a math game with a Tetris style. Sets of three numbers fall and the
object is to get numbers to multiply together to equal 24, horizontally
or vertically. Three levels of difficulty keep you on your toes.

allows you to create graphical adventure and role playing games. This
system supports for up to 1000 worlds with 500 characters or objects per
world; predefined scripts for a variety of character types and classes,
object types and classes and world types; graphic files for CGA, EGA,
VGA and TANDY screens; and a script programming language to modify just
about every aspect of the game.

Other features include Sound Blaster voice, music and textto-speech
drivers; PCX graphics; execution of DOS programs under script control;
and utilities to convert graphics, print reports, and create voice
files. A sample adventure game with Sound Blaster files is included.

is a shoot-em-up space game like the old Galactica arcade game. Features

is a strategy arcade game. Features include nine levels of gameplay,
beautiful graphics, and joystick support.

The object is to move an air-filled ball around by releasing it's air in
any of four directions, collecting all the blue gems and the team flag.
You will encounter many other weird symbols along the way. When you
finish a level, you're presented with a symbol. To win the game, you
must match the nine symbols with each of the nine levels. Requires a 386
or better and 640K RAM.

Moraff's Dungeons of the Unforgiven I 1.1 [UNFORGIV]  <unforgiv.pcx>

is a dungeons and monsters game. You battle flying monsters, female
warriors, and water creatures. It features realistic 3D imaging,

is a sequel to the Oilcap game. It pits you against the clock as you try
to keep water flowing from a well by creating a series of pipe links to
control its flow. Requires EGA/VGA and a mouse.

[Abuse] 1.1 (Dan M. Shaw; $19) generates colorful language from a database
  of thousands of phrases. Vocabulary is approximately PG-rated.

[Amazing] 1.1 (Arthur Wells, Jr.; $12) is a game in which you must move
  your marker through mazes to the goal. The mazes are never the same.
  If you complete eight mazes, you move to a higher rank in which the
  game becomes more difficult.  <amazing.pcx>

Easy Play Penta [PENTA] (Todd Johnson; $20) is an attractive, EGA
  version of Penta. Two or more human players are required you cannot
  play against the computer.  <penta.pcx>

[GridLock] 2.0 (Fred Lee; $25) The objective is to design a system of
  traffic controls that allow maximum traffic flow without getting
  blocked intersections or gridlock. The traffic system must be
  developed so that test cars drive their routes in the shortest amounts
  of time. Requires 512K, EGA/VGA, DOS 3.2+, and over 10 MHz.

LottoMATIC 1.23 [LOTTOMAT] (CTech ASP; $25) is a general purpose lottery
  program. It is configurable for virtually any lottery. Three separate,
  user selectable quick-pick algorithms are included. You can store
  plays, track winning numbers, and play repeat numbers. It prints
  several reports.

Word Search Creator 3.0 [WORDSRCH] (Owen Associates; $29) creates and
  prints word search puzzles. Words can be entered manually where ever
  you like, or the program can automatically place words for you.
  Puzzles can be saved to finish or edit later. Mouse support is
  included. EGA/VGA.

X-Wing Manager 1.1 [XMANAGR] (Gregory M. Smith; $5) is a management
  utility for LucasArts' game X-Wing. It provides many more optional
  spacecraft and environments. You can view a listing of all pilots and
  revive any dead or missing pilots without loss of points, custom
  design your own fighters and save up to five modules.

X-Wing Mission Design Kit 1.2 [XWINGDK] (Henry Chang; $7) allows you to
  design and construct X-Wing missions. All aspects of the mission are
  included, such as ships, space objects, and the mission briefing.

multi-level 3D maze game.

phonetically. Requires 640K RAM and a hard disk or high density floppy

Because the program takes over 4MB of hard disk space, we have
preinstalled it on the August PsL Monthly CD, as well as putting it on
the CD in ZIP format.

is a New York Stock Exchange analysis program. It includes Value Line
analysis, Fortune 500 ranking, industry codes, industry descriptions,
company name and symbol. Data includes 12 years on all companies.

Personal Biorhythm 4.3 [PERSBIO]

   Morris L. Bower; $15
generates professional-looking biorhythm charts. It plots physical,
emotional and intellectual highs and lows. It prints cover sheets, daily
forecasts and comparisons. A database is included to store most
frequently-used names.

Smart-N-Easy Baby Planner 1.0 [BABY]

helps the new mother and mother-to-be. It organizes medical bills,
insurance claims, expenses, doctor appointments, prescription
information, gifts and more. It prints expense reports, a list of
questions to ask your doctor, a progress chart on weight gain, and
checklists such as things you need to shop for.

You can record activities, thoughts and ideas in the diary/journal. A
database of baby names and meanings is provided. There is also a Tips
and Tricks section with helpful hints and solutions, a month to month
pregnancy guide, and a baby's first year guide. Requires 640K RAM and a

  guitar chords. Hit a key and Chord Magic will tell you what chord

Connect 1.0 (Connect Soft/Publishing Co.; $10) provides a wealth of
  information for job seekers. Connect is relational database of the
  largest corporate and government employers. Employers may be selected
  by industry, size and or the total annual revenues.
      The type of products or services offered is described. Information
  may be added or deleted. You can address envelopes, make mailing
  labels, mail merge form letters or print reports.
      A note screen and database for personal addresses are included.
  Sample resumes and cover letters are provided. It supports 17
  different U. S. cities including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas Fort Worth,
  Denver, Detroit, Florida, Minneapolis St. Paul, New York, Ohio,
  Philadelphia, Phoenix, Saint Louis, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington

      On the August CD, each city is in an individual ZIP file. To
  install a city, change to the \DOS\CONNECT directory, type GO, and
  follow the prompts.

Easy Drill [EZDRILL] (Boomeria Softworks; $15) is a utility designed for
  calling on students for reviews, practice, and group selections.
  Students' names are randomly selected and shown on screen in large
  font. Previously entered questions can also be displayed for the
  students to answer.

[Flag] (C. J. Cooney; $0) demonstrates the phenomena of persistence of
  vision.

FundSearch [FUNDSRCH] (Data Management; $60) is a mutual funds analysis
  program. It allows you to graphically analyze 600 funds. You can
  graphically display over 200 funds on one screen and add your own
  notes to each fund for future reference.

[GC] 1.06 (S. R. Sampson; $0) computes the Great Circle bearing and range.

[Geod] 1.1 (Henry S. Aurand ASP; $12) is a geodetic line calculator. It
  calculates the shortest-distance line on an ellipsoidal earth and
  compares the results with three different spherical earth solutions.
  It also finds the distance and azimuths between two points as well as
  location of a point given the distance and azimuth from another.
  Requires 512K RAM.

The Grocery Shopper 3.01 [GROCERY] (Clark Systems; $15) creates shopping
  lists in multiple formats and sorts the lists according to the
  order of your grocery store's aisles.

HurrTrak 1993 4.0 [HURRTRK] (PC Weather Products; $45) is a professional
  hurricane tracking and analysis system. It features detailed VGA
  tracking charts. You can view the wind structure of a storm including
  location of deadly eye wall. Over 200 pre-defined coastal state city
  locations are included, along with many storm tracks for many
  well-known storms.

[Jobs] 2.0 (R.J. Kovach & Associates; $25) is a database system for
  managing a change of jobs. It will organize and keep track of network
  contacts, target companies, executive search firms, temporary
  placement firms, direct mail, telephone logs and job hunting expenses.
  Reports are included for printing of data. This program runs on dBase
  III Plus and Foxpro 2.0+.

[Maytag] (Grant Warkentin; $0) is a quote of the day type program. It
  displays random message at the bottom of your screen. Over 3800 quotes
  included.

[Movies] (The Unlearning Foundation; $0) is a database of over 25,000
  movies and videos. You can search on titles, category, or main actor,
  but there are no reviews and the price fields don't seem to have valid
  data in them. Because 14MB of disk space is required, we have
  dearchived the files onto the PsL August CD, in addition to providing
  the files in ZIP format, so that you do not have to install it on your
  hard disk.

OrthoLittera 1.0 [ORTHOLIT] (Mundo Computacional; DEMO) teaches Spanish
  spelling rules. All documentation is in Spanish.

[Plague] 1.1s (JMS Enterprises; $20) is a biological simulation. It
  graphically illustrates how disease can be transmitted between dynamic
  populations under a variety of user-controlled conditions. Requires
  EGA and a mouse.  <plague.pcx>

What Vehicle History? 2.2o [WHAT_VEH] (Angel Babudro; $69) is vehicle service
  history tracking and reporting system. It tracks one or a fleet of
  cars, trucks, tractors, big rigs, heavy equipment, mechanics,
